Background: This article provides a description of treatment approach, the theoretical underpinning and a summary of empirical findings to date.

Conclusion: A behavioral problem of students is one of the main obstacles in training process that has a devastating impact on quality of life of the students and their families. Recently, Functional Communication Training (FCT) is one of the behavioral approaches in the field of special education which has been supported by many theoretical and experimental methods. The specific FCT procedures for an individual are determined by the findings of a functional assessment and analysis of a challenging behavior to be treated.
