Abstract
Background and purpose: Teachers of exceptional schools are one of the important subjects of
research, which have been addressed by researchers in different fields, due to the high-pressure nature
of their profession and how they can deal with these conditions. Based on this, the current research was
conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between job stress and job burnout with considering
moderating role of organizational commitment and job satisfaction in special education teachers in
Baghdad, Iraq.
Method: The research method is correlation in the form of hierarchical regression analysis. The statistical
population of the research was made up of all the special education teachers of elementary schools in
Baghdad, Iraq, in the spring and summer of 1403 (2024), in the number of 524 people, among them 200
people (100 women and 100 male) were selected through convenience sampling method. The data were
collected using occupational stress questionnaires of the Health and Safety Institute of England (HSE),
job burnout by Maslach, & Jackson (1996), organizational commitment by Mowday et al. (1979) and job
satisfaction by Smith et al. (1969). To analyze data, Pearson's correlation coefficient and hierarchical
regression analysis were used using SPSS 26 software.
Results: The results showed that there is a significant relationship between job stress, job burnout,
organizational commitment and job satisfaction (p<0.01). In addition, the results of hierarchical regression
analysis showed that organizational commitment and job satisfaction could moderate the relationship
between job stress and burnout (p<0.01).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this research, it is suggested to the managers and policy makers
of the Iraqi education system to pay serious attention to the role of job satisfaction and organizational
commitment in preventing the burnout of special education teachers.
