Background and Purpose: Mothers of deaf children face various challenges, including stress, anxiety, and a reduced quality of life. Experiential avoidance is one of the key factors affecting their mental well-being. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) on experiential avoidance and quality of life in mothers of deaf children.
Materials and Methods: The study employed a quasi-experimental pretest, posttest control group design. The population consists of all mothers of deaf children in Dezful in 2024. The experimental group received MBCT in eight-weekly 90-minute sessions. The research instruments included the Experiential Avoidance Questionnaire (Gámez) and the Quality of Life Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using one-way ANCOVA.
Results: Results indicated that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in terms of experiential avoidance and quality of life (p < 0.001).
Conclusion: MBCT reduced experiential avoidance and improved the quality of life of mohers of deaf children. Based on these findings, it may be recommended as an effective intervention for reducing experiential avoidance and improving the quality of life in thid population.
