Abstract
Background and purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of resilience
in the relationship between attachment styles and life satisfaction in mothers with children with learning
disabilities.
Methods: The method of the current research was a correlational description. The statistical population
includes all mothers with children with learning disabilities whose children were under education in learning
disorders centers of Rasht city in 2023. 225 people were selected by targeted and accessible sampling
method. Research tools include; The demographic questionnaire made by the researcher was attachment
style scale (Collins and Reed, 1990), life satisfaction scale (Diener et al., 1985) and resilience scale (Connor
and Davidson, 2003). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation method, structural equation modeling
and SPSS-27 and AMOS-24 software.
Results: A significant relationship was observed between the four variables of secure style, avoidant
style, anxious/ambivalent style and resilience with the dependent variable of life satisfaction (p<0.05).
The mediating role of resilience was confirmed in the relationship between avoidant attachment style and
life satisfaction and in the relationship between anxious/ambivalent attachment style and life satisfaction
(p<0.05); The mediation of resilience in the relationship between secure attachment style and life satisfaction
was not confirmed (p>0.05). Independent and mediating variables could explain 59% of the variance of life
satisfaction.
Conclusion: Specialists can take an important step towards improving and increasing their life satisfaction
by benefiting from the ability of resilience in the treatment of mothers with insecure attachment styles who
have children with learning disabilities.
