Background: Children developmental characteristic has relationship with their parent’s quality of life. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between motor development and body mass index of intellectual disable children, with their parent’s quality of life. Method: This study was correlation type. We selected the statistical sample, from all students with mild mental retardation (IQ 50-70) that studying in special schools, in Arak in the academic year of 1394-95, according to Cochran formula and with purposive sampling method that finally 127 students and their parents cooperated. Motor development, quality of life, height and weight respectively were measured using short form of Bruniniks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, SF-12 questionnaire, tape mounted on the wall and digital scales. Data were analyzed by the SPSS-23 software with significant level of 0.05 using partial correlation and linear regression analysis. Results: Motor development of children has significant positive correlation with parent’s quality of life (P=0.02). Children's BMI has not significantly associated with their parent’s quality of life (P=0.83). Significantly, motor development of children can predict their parent’s quality of life (P=0.01). Conclusion: Probably support of children motor development causes promote of parent’s quality of life. So, probably focus on children motor development, meanwhile interpersonal effectiveness, will be a therapeutic strategy to promote physical, mental and social health of parents of children with intellectual disability.
