Background: Meeting the various needs of students with special needs for improving their abilities in the inclusive education is so necessary and important. One way to meet these needs is the design of classroom based on differentiating instruction. Differentiating instruction with systematic design for educational curriculum is based on the diverse needs of students with special needs to maximize their learning ability. Conclusion: In this review paper, after a brief introduction, definition and history of differentiating instruction is discussed and in the following, necessity and importance of differentiating instruction, elements of differentiating instruction, challenges and barriers of differentiating instruction and teachers' role in the success of differentiating instruction in Iran are presented and finally conclusion is expressed.
