Background: The present study is performed in order to investigate the influence of reading appropriate books on auditory distinction improvement of hearing impaired children in fifth grade in 2012-2013.

Method: This is an experimental research. Population of study consists of all deaf boys in the fifth grade in provinces of Tehran. According to the aim of study, samples were chosen by the multi-stage cluster method (N=30). Subjects divided into two groups randomly: experiment group and control group. For gathering data, Raven IQ test (for matching the group in terms of IQ) and Wepman test (in order to evaluate the auditory distinction improvement) were used. Data are analyzed by covariance.

Results: There is a significant difference between experiment and control group in auditory distinction improvement (p>0.01). Also, there is a significant difference between two groups in the obtained averages of Wepman test.
